Why Do We Have a Gala Every Year?

Down syndrome is the most common chromosomal disability in our country and yet, it is the least funded. To ensure lasting acceptance, we must continue showing the world what individuals with Down syndrome are truly capable of achieving as students, co-workers, friends and valued members of their communities.

All our programs are free to our families but they are not free for us. We rely on corporate sponsorships, donations, grants and 2 fundraisers. The Gala is our biggest fundraiser and allows to keep our doors open. This is why we have a Gala every year.

The theme of our Gala this year is “BECAUSE OF YOU”

BECAUSE OF YOU, more individuals will learn reading and math.

BECAUSE OF YOU, more individuals will improve their health & wellness.

BECAUSE OF YOU, more adults and teens will develop career skills.

BECAUSE OF YOU, more individuals will live truly beautiful lives.

BECAUSE OF YOU, we are able to provide FREE programs to individuals of all ages.

BECAUSE OF YOU, we are able to EMPOWER our participants.

Last year’s Gala allowed us to quite a bit this year.

  • We were able to revamp all our tutoring rooms with new functional furniture.
  • We were able to have our World Down syndrome Day Carnival.
  • We were able to purchase some additional cooking equipment for our cooking programs
  • We were able to create a GiGi’s Kitchen Kids program.
  • We were able to create and sustain our EPIC program.

We would love for you to attend the Gala this year. You will see our participants in action. They will be doing various jobs throughout the night. We will have passed appetizers, open bar, a wonderful dinner and music and dancing courtesy of the Gina Glocksen Band. If you have never been to a Gala, this is the one to attend!
