Virtual Sneak Peak Of GiGiFit Infant (Newborn- Pre-walking) 10:30am-11:15am

December 15, 2020 @ 10:30 am - 11:15 am

GiGiFIT Programs combine Physical Therapy with a strong fitness focus and an ultimate goal of success and improved movement. GiGiFIT was created in collaboration by skilled Physical Therapists who work specifically with individuals with Down syndrome. The GiGiFIT programs are designed to address common issues for individuals with Down syndrome including hypotonia, excessive joint laxity, and decreased balance. Every GiGiFIT program is safe, effective, and progressive. GiGiFIT helps participants build strength, endurance, power, joint stability, balance, and movement control. GiGiFit empowers participants to be more independent and confident in their abilities while improving their overall health and wellness.

GiGiFIT Infant- includes key physiology and learning strategies to help our smallest participants achieve their #bestofall right away after birth.

Check out these amazing demonstrations to work with your infant achieving their #bestofall.  Stand Up and Reach as well as a variety of other foundational exercises will be included.  The goal of Stand Up and Reach is to use a forward bend and forward weight shift to activate leg muscles to stand. The setup encourages leg muscle strengthening with feet pointed forward and teaches hip muscles to activate and stabilize the legs during the stand (to prevent hip, knee and foot turn-out). The additional reach teaches the motor plan of reaching arms in front of body. This is essential for protective reactions as the infant learns to stand and walk independently.

It is best that you attend all sessions to really see growth in your child. We will print and pass out movement cards for you to practice the movements at home. We have movement cards for you to use during the program and on your own.
