3 Questions with Volunteer Abbey MacLeod

1) How are you connected to GiGi’s Playhouse Tinley Park?

I’m a volunteer for programs. I kept on Googling best volunteer opportunities involving children and GiGi’s was always at the top of the search. I read the reviews from the parents and then all the programs you have. I thought it would be a good place to volunteer. After over a year of volunteering I was wrong…it is an AMAZING place to volunteer!

2) What free programs do you volunteer for?

I have volunteered for numerous programs such as LMNOP and Leaps & Bounds, I am a co-leader of Book Club, and I help plan and create the new At Home activity bags right now due to the pandemic. All of these programs have given me different experiences and a deeper understanding as to why these wonderful people are a big part of my life.

3) What is your favorite part about volunteering?

The best part of volunteering at GiGi’s is the joy of seeing the participants learn new things. I see children learn ASL (American Sign Language), I know what it is to be a good friend to others, and we’re all able to be our goofy selves together.
