New Programs at GiGi’s Tinley Park!

This summer, GiGi’s Playhouse Tinley Park has introduced 3 new programs: Young Athletes™; Busy Hands, Bigger Plans; and Playhouse Partners to prepare for GiGi Prep!

Young Athletes

Young Athletes™ is being held on Wednesdays from 10-10:45am. Staff members from Southwest Special Recreation Association have been leading the program and our participants love it! Young Athletes™ is a unique sport and play program for children with intellectual disabilities. The focus is on fun activities that are important to mental and physical growth.  Children ages 2½ to 7 enjoy games and activities that develop motor skills and hand-eye coordination. Young Athletes is an early introduction to sports and to the world of Special Olympics. This class runs from June 29-August 17, but participants have been pre-registered.

Busy Hands, Bigger Plans

Busy Hands, Bigger Plans is held on Fridays from 1:30-2:15pm. This program is for ages 6-12 and our very own Programs Coordinator, Mady Stein is leading this program.  This program promotes the development of existing handwriting skills.  While this program is primarily a handwriting group, we also work on fine motor, sensory awareness, social interaction, and language skill development. This program runs from July-August.

Playhouse Partners 1

Playhouse Partners is held on Thursdays from 1:30-3:30pm. We have three adults and one teen taking part in this program. This program is helping prepare our teens and adults for GiGi Prep through life and job skills. This program runs from June-August, and is a pre-registered program.
