Discovering GiGi’s Playhouse as a Single Mother

I am a single mother with two boys.  My eldest, Josh, is 23 years old and has Down syndrome.  Now being a mother in itself has its challenges, but add to the mix a child with a disability, and not having any daily support.   Many times I tried to find activities for Josh, but it was often difficult. Finally, I stumbled across an advertisement for GiGi’s Playhouse in a local magazine.  I was eager to find out more, and I thank God that I did.  It has been the greatest discovery! GiGi’s provides a safe environment where Josh can fellowship with his peers, engage in fun activities, learn and reinforce life skills, positive behaviors, and teamwork participation.  It is the best place for Josh to be, and he loves it passionately!  It has also brought out the best version of himself. I am truly grateful to the volunteers that guide this program.  They are selfless for taking the time out of their busy schedules every week to be a part of such a great program.  They embrace every child who comes through the doors with encouragement, appreciation, acceptance, and love!  GiGi’s Playhouse has opened an arena for meeting wonderful moms and creating new and lasting friendships for us both. I can’t wait to see what God has in store for GiGi’s Sugar Land in the years to come.
