Summer Game Night Brings Community Together Through Friendship, Fun, and Inclusion
On Wednesday, June 24, GiGi’s Playhouse Southern Tier was thrilled to partner once again with Dick’s House of Sport and Advocates for Autism, Inc. for our Summer Game Night! Set against the backdrop of a beautiful, cool summer evening, the event brought together participants, families, volunteers, and community members for an evening filled with laughter, movement, and meaningful connections.

The highlight of the night was a friendly game of kickball, where our adult participants took to the field with enthusiasm, teamwork, and plenty of smiles. Whether they were kicking, catching, cheering from the sidelines, or celebrating a great play, everyone had the opportunity to be part of something special. The game wasn’t about keeping score—it was about encouraging one another, trying something new, and enjoying time together.
Beyond kickball, participants and families enjoyed open field games, cornhole, and plenty of opportunities to relax and socialize. It was wonderful to see new friendships beginning to form while familiar faces caught up and strengthened existing relationships. Families connected with one another, shared stories, and found support in a welcoming community that celebrates every individual.
Events like Summer Game Night remind us that inclusion extends far beyond a program or activity. It happens in the conversations between families, the high-fives after a great kick, the laughter shared during a cornhole match, and the kindness shown when everyone is welcomed exactly as they are.

We are incredibly grateful to Dick’s House of Sport for once again opening their space to our community and helping create an environment where everyone can belong. Their continued partnership allows our participants to experience new opportunities while building confidence and friendships in an inclusive setting.
A special thank you also goes to Advocates for Autism, Inc. for collaborating with us to bring our communities together. Working alongside organizations that share our mission of acceptance and inclusion helps create lasting impacts for individuals and families throughout our region.
At GiGi’s Playhouse Southern Tier, we believe that every connection matters. Watching our adult participants make new friends, families build new relationships, and our community come together with kindness and acceptance made this summer evening one to remember.
Thank you to everyone who joined us—we can’t wait for the next opportunity to come together, celebrate inclusion, and continue spreading kindness throughout our community.
