Happy World Down Syndrome Day!

This year I was blessed with the privilege of getting to work with these three amazing kids. They are all amazingly special and unique in their own way, and today I get to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day!

A lot of people would think Down syndrome is a disability people are born with, but the little boy in these pictures has proven to me that “disability” is not even close to the the right word for it.

Grady just turned 9 years old on Friday and now we get to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day. Grady is a young man who does not let Down syndrome stop him from doing anything, he loves to play all sorts of games and do activities with his siblings and i before school every day, he loves going to school and getting to be with all of his classmates. He also loves going to GiGi’s Playhouse and doing all sorts of activities there, from what I have heard his favorite are the cooking class and the exercise class that his dad teaches.

I was able to go to Grady’s class at school for a news interview with him that will be on at 6:00pm today in honor of World Down Syndrome day. After seeing what kind of kid he is at school, it made me wish I had him in my life sooner to help me understand that any person is capable of having a great day everyday.

Grady has a great relationship with all of his family members, friends, teachers, and class mates, and has proven that nothing and no one can stand in his way. Some people assume that people with Down syndrome have it harder then us, but truly it’s the same, they wake up every morning get dressed and go on with the day, but this kid does it better then anyone I know, he is constantly smiling, and laughing, and if your lucky you may see him singing and dancing to his favorite songs. Grady has shown me time and time again that God put us on this earth for us to have a good day every day and Grady definitely follows Gods plan.

If I had to say everything that Grady has taught me this would be longer then it already is, but the most important thing is that he taught me that there is absolutely nothing down about Down Syndrome!!

Today has become a very special day to me because of this kid, I am so blessed and happy to have gotten the chance to be with him every day and create memories I will never forget. Wear Blue and Gold in support of World Down Syndrome Day today!💙💛”
