Happy 3rd Birthday to GiGi’s Playhouse Orange County!
Can you believe it? On November 12, we are officially turning three years old! Three years ago, we opened our doors with a big dream to create a place where individuals with Down syndrome and their families could feel celebrated, supported, and empowered. Today, that dream has blossomed into a thriving community of over 400 families, 100 volunteers, and thousands of hours of learning, laughter, and connection.
Like every great birthday celebration, we are filled with gratitude for the people who made it all possible: you. Because of your support, every single program at GiGi’s is completely free for our participants and families. That means no barriers, no limits, and no one left out. From group programs that build skills and confidence, to one-on-one tutoring, to special events for families, parents, and donors, GiGi’s is alive with joy, growth, and connection, all thanks to you.
One story that captures this spirit is that of the Vargas family. When Santiago was born, Angie and Juan were searching for guidance after his Down syndrome diagnosis. They found GiGi’s, joined our programs, and just a year later, Angie has become a mentor to other new moms while Santiago thrives in our nurturing environment. Their journey inspired the relaunch of our LMNOP program for babies ages 0 to 3 starting in January 2026, a beautiful reminder that when one family finds community, it opens the door for so many more.
As we blow out the candles on our third birthday, we are already dreaming about the year ahead. With your help, we will continue to grow, reach new families, and keep every program free and accessible to all. We have set an exciting goal to raise the funds needed to launch and sustain a free speech therapy program, opening new doors for communication and confidence for our families. GiGi’s Playhouse Orange County is part of a nationwide network of Down syndrome achievement centers offering free educational, therapeutic, and career development programs for individuals with Down syndrome and their families. Opened in November 2022, our Playhouse serves more than 330 families and is powered by over 100 volunteers. Every program, from LMNOP and GiGiFIT to tutoring, cooking, and social skills groups, aims to foster confidence, belonging, and lifelong learning. The Playhouse is more than a building; it is a place where families find connection, where children are celebrated for exactly who they are, and where inclusion grows every single day.
