GiGi’s Supply Closet: The HUGE Heart Behind the Hinges

How a Simple Supply Closet Powers Big Impact at GiGi’s Playhouse

How a Simple Supply Closet Powers Big Impact at GiGi’s Playhouse
The very important and very plentiful supply room at the Playhouse in Orange County. These supplies are the result of generous donations from our families, volunteers, and participants. Couldn’t do it with them – thank you!

At first glance, the supply closet at GiGi’s Playhouse Orange County may seem like just a small, functional space tucked away from the vibrant energy of our programs and activities. It may not have the bright murals of our play areas or the welcoming atmosphere of our classrooms, but this unassuming room tells a powerful story. One of generosity, community, and the many hands that come together to support our mission. It is an essential part of every tour, not because of its aesthetic appeal, but because it serves as a tangible reminder of the kindness and dedication of our donors.

The walls are decorated by the generous checks, cards, and receipts from our donors.

Inside the supply closet, you will find more than just stacks of paper, bins of craft supplies, and shelves lined with office essentials. You will find the generosity of retired and current teachers who have donated materials to help bring creativity to life. You will see the impact of volunteers who ensure that every lesson, every activity, and every project has the tools it needs to be engaging and meaningful. From the Cricut machine used for crafting projects to the laminators that preserve learning materials, every item has a story behind it. A person who cared enough to give.

Super organized with our handy-dandy label maker – makes it easy for the volunteers to find what they need.

One of the most significant donations in this space is our copy machine, a gift that represents an enormous cost savings for the Playhouse. The ability to print materials in-house, rather than outsourcing, allows us to direct more funds toward our programs and participants. It is a perfect example of how even the most practical donations can have a profound impact. Every pencil, stapler, ream of paper, and glue stick may seem small on its own, but together, these supplies form the backbone of our daily operations, ensuring that we can continue providing high-quality programming without unnecessary financial strain.

The wall of volunteer nametags – over 80 volunteers for our programs, tutoring, events, and Board members. Ah-mazing!!

At GiGi’s Playhouse Orange County, every dollar is hard-earned and deeply valued, making every donation, no matter how big or small, deeply appreciated. The supply closet may not be the most glamorous stop on a tour, but it is one of the most meaningful. It stands as a symbol of what makes our Playhouse so special. A community that gives selflessly. A shared belief in the power of education and creativity. An unwavering commitment to supporting individuals with Down syndrome. This small room, filled with everyday essentials, reflects something much bigger. The heart and generosity that make everything we do possible.

Bulletin board filled with gratitude and favorite things!
