Registration for Spring 2021 Programming is Now Open!

Registration for our free spring programming is now open! Registration will be open from December 8, 2020-January 17, 2021 or until programs are full. Once you complete the online registration form, you will receive a confirmation of enrollment or waitlist before our program semester begins.

In order to keep our participants, families and volunteers safe and healthy, we will be offering a variety of in-person and virtual programs this spring. All virtual programs will be accessible through GoToMeeting. By registering for a virtual program, you will receive a unique GoToMeeting link each week for that particular program. For our in-person programs, we will be taking several precautions and following GiGi’s Inc. and local CDC guidelines. Each person who enters our building will need to wear a mask, have their temperature taken and complete a health questionnaire. The safety of our participants, families and volunteers is of extreme importance to us. We are confident that all of our in-person programs, will be conducted in a safe and healthy manner.

We are excited to offer the following programs this spring:

One-on-One Educational Tutoring

  • Literacy (ages 3+): weekly as scheduled with student & tutor
  • Math (ages 3+): weekly as scheduled with student & tutor

Programs Offered In-Person at GiGi’s Playhouse Nashville (Brentwood Location)

  • LMNOP (recommended ages 0-3): Language, Music, N’ Our Peeps is an interactive and engaging program that guides young children with Down syndrome and their families through learning basic sign language and other forms of communication using music and language-based activities. LMNOP will take place on Saturdays at 10:00am on the following dates: 1/9, 1/23, 2/6, 2/20, 3/6, 3/20.
  • Crawlers & Walkers (recommended ages 1-5): Focuses on the development of gross and fine motor skills through activities that are hands-on and fun! Social skills and language development will also be addressed, with a focus on learning new words, following directions and interacting with peers. Crawlers and Walkers will take place on Saturday mornings at 10:00am on the following dates: 1/16, 1/30, 2/13, 2/27, 3/13, 3/27, 4/10
  • Music in Motion (recommended ages 4-7): Led by our friends in the Music Therapy department at Belmont, Music in Motion builds self-confidence and strengthens social skills, communication, and motor skills through the therapeutic use of music and dance. MIM: Early Learners will meet on Wednesdays from 4:45-5:30pm on the following dates: 1/13, 1/20, 1/27, 2/3, 2/10, 2/17, 2/24, 3/3, 3/10, 3/24, 3/31, 4/7, 4/14
  • Music in Motion (recommended ages 8-12)): Led by our friends in the Music Therapy department at Belmont, Music in Motion builds self-confidence and strengthens social skills, communication, and motor skills through the therapeutic use of music and dance. MIM: Early Learners will meet on Wednesdays from 5:45-6:30pm on the following dates: 1/13, 1/20, 1/27, 2/3, 2/10, 2/17, 2/24, 3/3, 3/10, 3/24, 3/31, 4/7, 4/14
  • GiGiFIT Kids (recommended ages: 8-12):Combines key movements from to help improve strength, balance, coordination, peer interaction and to build a lifelong love of physical activity. Physical Therapy Goals: Strength, Endurance, Joint Stability, Balance, Coordination, Sequencing, Independent Practice, Lifetime of Participation. Fitness Goals: Strength, Endurance, Power, Stamina. Balance and Coordination Goals: Joint Stability, Posture, Movement Control. Introduce fun, structured, and purposeful movement activities to lay the groundwork for daily exercise participation throughout life! This program will meet in person on Tuesday evenings from 5:00-6:00pm on the following dates: 1/19, 1/26, 2/2, 2/9, 2/16, 2/23, 3/2, 3/9, 3/23, 3/30, 4/6, 4/13
  • Yoga: Teens and Adults (recommended ages 13-18; 18+):Our Yoga program promotes healthy habits for a lifetime of wellness through a practice and routine that integrates physical, mental, and emotional development, helping participants develop personal awareness and learn specific strategies to maintain focus and manage emotions and impulses. This program will take place in person on Thursday evenings from 6:30-7:30 on the following dates: 1/21, 2/4, 2/18, 3/4, 4/1, 4/15
  • E.P.I.C. (recommended ages 18+):Empowerment, Participation, Independence, Community –  Provides opportunities for socialization and community involvement, while creating a fun and memorable experience for its participants. Participants work on vocational, communication, and social skills to boost confidence and encourage independence through goal oriented objectives. This program will meet in person on Wednesday evenings from 7:00pm -8:00pm 1/20-4/14 (no session on 3/17).
  • GiGi Prep (recommended ages: 18+) The GiGi Prep program has an emphasis on building communication skills, money management, customer service skills, team building, health and wellness over a 10-week session made up of 2-days per week instructional learning. This program is an application-based program with high expectations to motivate adults with Down syndrome. This program will take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays 9:00am-1:00pm on the following dates: 1/19, 1/21, 1/26, 1/28, 2/2, 2/4, 2/9, 2/11, 2/16, 2/18, 2/23, 2/25, 3/2, 3/4, 3/9 3/11, 3/23, 3/25, 3/30, 4/1

Virtual Programs!

  • GiGi’s Kitchen (recommended ages 5-12): GiGi’s Kitchen is designed to emphasize the importance of health and wellness through nutrition education, kitchen safety, & food preparation. Participants will learn about and progress through skills including measurements, food handling, knife skills, ingredient identification, palette expansion, and nutrition. Participants will be introduced to various cooking techniques. GiGi’s Kitchen program will build participants self-esteem and self-confidence through nutrition and wellness! This program is recommended for ages 5-12. This program will require the supervision and assistance of a parent/caregiver at all times. Once you are registered for this program, our program leader will be in touch with everyone to choose dates/times that fit everyone’s schedule!
  • Yoga: Kids (recommended ages 8-12): Our Yoga program promotes healthy habits for a lifetime of wellness through a practice and routine that integrates physical, mental, and emotional development, helping participants develop personal awareness and learn specific strategies to maintain focus and manage emotions and impulses. Yoga for this age group will take place on Monday evenings from 5:00pm-5:45pm via GoToMeeting on the following dates: 1/18, 1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 2/15, 2/22, 3/1, 3/8, 3/22, 3/29, 4/12
  • Teen-Tastic (recommended ages: 13-18):Focuses on building social skills with friends with and without Down syndrome by participating in team-based activities in a casual and fun setting. Skill development includes understanding compromise, turn-taking and problem-solving abilities. This program will take place on Wednesday evenings from 5:00pm-5:45pm on the following dates: 1/20, 2/3, 2/17, 3/3, 3/31, 4/14
  • GiGiFIT Teens & Adults (recommended ages 13-18; 18+):GiGiFIT Teen introduces the key movements of foundational , hip strengthening and vestibular/balance exercises, we focus on improving areas of fitness through activities in strength, endurance, joint stability, balance, movement control and more. GiGiFIT incorporates age appropriate activities that teens can be successful with and strengthen their bodies purposefully. GiGiFIT promotes wellness through nutrition, pushing through barriers and building self-confidence. This program will take place virtually on Mondays at 6:00pm on the following dates: 1/25, 2/8, 2/22, 3/8, 3/22, 4/5, 4/19
  • GiGi’s Kitchen Teens & Adults (recommended ages: 13-18; 18+): GiGi’s Kitchen is designed to emphasize the importance of health and wellness through nutrition education, kitchen safety, & food preparation.   • Kids Club (recommended ages: 8-12): Supports the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. This program will also support gross motor skills through active games, fine motor and self-help skills through meal/snack preparation and activities.
  • Teen-Tastic (recommended ages: 13-18): Focuses on building social skills with friends with and without Down syndrome by participating in team-based activities in a casual and fun setting. Skill development includes understanding compromise, turn-taking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Fantastic Friends (recommended ages: 18+): A fun night out to facilitate social interactions between adults with Down syndrome, their peers and the community. Supports the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting.
