Rockin’ out a new Best Of All at GiGi’s Little Rock
Heather, age 24, is a quiet and reserved woman who struggles with anxiety, to the point she has trouble going in public comfortably. She came to our second offering of Fantastic Friends with her mom. Her mom took a seat on the couch and Heather sat next to her. The other participants (also women in their mid 20’s) took to the stage which was setup for karaoke and began belting out their favorite songs and dancing!
Heather watched for a while then decided maybe she could dance behind them. She slowly made her way to the stage and danced behind the others for a few songs. Allison, one of the singers, gave the mic to Heather and told her it was her turn.
This was the moment of truth…
Her mom held her breath but as Heather stepped forward and asked us to play Aretha Franklin’s RESPECT, I knew it was over.
Heather sang at the top of her lungs with the other women at her side while her mom sat stunned in tears on the couch. I never would have known about her anxiety or social fears if that was the first time seeing Heather.
She felt comfortable at GiGi’s and because she was comfortable, she was able to step out of her normal and achieve her Best Of All.
