Meet Olivia
My name is Olivia and I am 15 and live in Cabot, AR. We have seen so many positive changes since Olivia’s birth in the world of Down Syndrome- and now we get to add a GiGi’s Playhouse in our area to the list!
I enjoy swimming, shopping, going out to eat, and being with my dog, Melvin. I have even started feeding him and making sure he is taken well care of-I call myself his mommy.
Now that I am a teenager, I am initiating more of my own self-care/hygiene without my parents having to keep reminding me. I like to apply make-up at times (don’t tell dad.) I have recently mastered shaving my own legs-however with mom’s watchful eye close by.
I am happy when others are happy and sad when others are sad. Music, Jesus, and swimming are a few of the things that make me happy. Loud noises, crowded places, and crying babies make me upset. My surrounding environment can influence my mood.
Another reason we are thankful for GiGi’s Playhouse, Olivia feels comfortable here among her peers.GiGi’s is a place Olivia can be herself as can mom! Olivia explores each room when we attend-all while I can visit with other moms. She enjoys the library for quiet time if she gets overstimulated. We are excited for the life-skills this will further allow Olivia to thrive- laundry, cooking, tutoring.
I am excited to make new friends- teenage years can be difficult at times making new connections. Teenage years also find me needing more exercise and I am excited for those classes as well (working out with mom can be boring- shh!)
I don’t like to rush, and am not much of a morning person but when I hear it is a GiGi’s Playhouse day—I willingly jump out of bed and get ready!
We love you Olivia❤️❤️❤️So thankful to have gigisplayhouse in Arkansas !! A place you can go have fun with friend, learning new skills!
I am so excited that you have GiGi’s Playhouse! So happy the world around us is embracing this world of amazing people!
