What I Wish I Told My Doctor
GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough release of a brief but very powerful video What I Wish I Told My Doctor, produced to promote Down syndrome acceptance. The clip features Playhouse mom and board member Melissa, who speaks of the trials and hardship she faced when, at 18 weeks of pregnancy, it was discovered that her child likely had Down syndrome.
In a very compelling manner (and with frequent appearances by her adorable son Noah), Melissa tells of the messages of negativity she encountered as well as the pressure she felt to terminate her pregnancy. She ultimately pushed against this pressure and welcomed her beautiful son Noah into this world three years ago. The family now cannot imagine life without Noah, who they appropriately describe as a child who “has an amazing gift of touching the lives of everyone he meets” and who has given them an appreciation for the small significant moments in life.
“Every day at GiGi’s we see it, and we want others to know it: with the right supports, patience, encouragement, love, and acceptance, there isn’t anything that individuals with Down syndrome cannot achieve,” said Christy Bouziotis, GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough Board Vice President. “We produced this video to promote Down syndrome acceptance and hopefully provide families like Melissa’s hope for the future of their child.”
