Two years down, and many more to come!

In celebration of our 2nd Anniversary Board President Erin Morris shares her thoughts and feelings about the last two year.

Has it really been 2 years since GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough opened its doors? I can hardly believe it. I can remember the morning so clearly, waiting with anticipation to see who would turn up for our opening. I never would have expected the turn out that we had and seeing all of the excitement and joy in the face of those in attendance was the greatest gift we could have asked for after so many months of hard work.

Celebrating our 1st Anniversary at the Playhouse!

Since opening our doors 2 years ago I have been privileged to watch miracles happen every day at GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough. We have welcomed families with a new diagnosis, we have seen children and adults learn to read through our literacy program, and we have seen self confidence soar and so much more. Programs and participation continue to grow each month as the word and benefits of GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough continue to spread.

None of this would be possible if it were not for the 100s of volunteers who dedicate their time and talents to the Playhouse every month. We have been so lucky to meet and work with so many dedicated children and adults who have given so much to the families and participants at GiGi’s Playhouse. We are privileged and honored to have each and every one of them as volunteers and as a part of the GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough family.

I have been immeasurably blessed personally since GiGi’s Playhouse came into my life. Not only has my family been able to benefit from the programming at GiGi’s for our son, Ben, but our lives have been enriched by the relationships that we have been able to form with the many families that also call GiGi’s Playhouse home. As a parent of a child with Down syndrome I knew that I was looking for my “tribe,” my other family that I could join together with to not only learn from but to also celebrate the many gifts that Down syndrome brings to our lives. I am forever grateful to GiGi’s Playhouse for the gift of the family that we have been given as a part of this community.

The coming year has so much in store for GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough. We are launching new and exciting programs, revamping and enhancing current programs and just getting bigger and better along the way. Thank you for joining us on this journey and for supporting GiGi’s Playhouse for the past two years. We are bigger, better and stronger together!
