December 2021 Program Schedule

 

The December 2021 program schedule and registration is available on online at gigisplayhouse.org/hillsborough/calendar.

Scheduling information to note:
GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough will be closed December 24 and 25, 2021 for Christmas; we will be open for the program only on December 31, 2021.

The Playhouse new hours of operation are as follows:
Sunday, Closed
Monday, Closed
Tuesday, 9am – 6pm
Wednesday, 9am – 6pm
Thursday, 9am – 6pm
Friday, 9am – 5pm
Saturday, 9am – 2pm

Karate Kickers, Wednesday, December 1, 6- 7PM (ages 10+)
The benefits of karate for people with Down syndrome are endless.  Karate focuses on development of balance, coordination, discipline, focus, attention, physical fitness, and confidence. There will be no physical contact between peers.

Friends, Fun, & Fitness, Saturday, December 4, 10- 11AM (ages 10+)
Join Miss Virginia for Drums Alive!

Art Explosion, Saturday, December 4, 11AM- 12PM (ages 10+)
Creative, play-based, arts and crafts activities, will be offered with the goal of helping them to learn skills to manage their emotions. The activities offered will be used to engage otherwise reluctant children, adolescents or young adults, and help them express their thoughts and feelings in a pleasurable, relaxed and creative environment.

Volunteer Orientation, Wednesday, December 8, 6- 7PM (all ages)
Are you interested in volunteering with GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough? Come join us for volunteer orientation and learn about the various ways you can donate your time and talents to the playhouse.

Teen Tastic and Fantastic Friends, Friday, December 10, 7- 9PM (ages 13+)
Our monthly VIRTUAL dance with Count Graham!

Destination Discovery, Saturday, December 11, 10AM- 12PM (all ages)
SANTA IS COMING! We will be celebrating the holidays, by making crafts, reading stories, decorating cookies, and of course the visit from the man himself!

This is an interactive and engaging program for participants of all ages and their families. It supports the development of motor skills, social skills and language through purposeful play and peer-to-peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. In this all-ages program, participants progress from needing assistance, to working independently, to serving in the role of helper and partner to younger participants! This program also brings families together to share experiences and build relationships.

Volunteer Orientation, Saturday, December 11, 1:00- 2:00PM (all ages)

Fantastic Friends Holiday Celebration, Friday, December 17, 7- 8PM (ages 18+)
Come celebrate the holidays with your Fantastic Friends. The program will include LIVE music by DJ Count Graham and an appearance by Santa Clause!

Yoga, Saturday, December 18, 11AM- 12PM (ages 10+)
A gentle yoga class for participants ages 10 and up.

Cooking Club, Saturday, December 18, 12- 1PM (ages 10+)
Get cooking with your friends at GiGi’s!  This program is geared toward building safety awareness in the kitchen and preparing healthy recipes that taste great. This month we are making the participant-selected dish sloppy joes!

Fantastic Friends Noon Year’s Eve Brunch, Friday, December 31, 11AM- 1PM (ages 18+)
Celebrate the New Year with your Fantastic Friends at our holiday brunch and a noon balloon drop.

As space is limited for health and safety reasons, each program will have a pre-determined attendance limit. The same policy will also apply to program volunteers; there will be limited capacity for volunteers at each program. Should a participant or volunteer arrive for a program without having registered and the Playhouse is at capacity, he/she will be turned away at the door.
