4 Years of GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough

January 11, 2015– Our grand opening! GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough, the 18th Playhouse in the network, was officially open and ready to bring our FREE educational and therapeutic programming to the New Jersey Down syndrome community!

Since that day four years ago, individuals with Down syndrome have walked through our doors over 3,000 times! They have spent countless hours in the Playhouse with their family and friends while participating in the many purposeful programs we offer. GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough is lucky to be in a community whose citizen have donated over 12,500 hours of their time to help run those programs!

A year after our opening we were able to introduce the one-on-one literacy tutoring program. Year two saw the beginning of the one-on-one math tutoring and year three brought the one-on-one speech & language program. Under the instruction of the trained volunteers, students have excelled at literacy and math; and through the guidance of our contracted speech therapist, program participants have improved their communication skills.

As we continue to grow and serve the Down syndrome community, we cannot wait to see what successes the coming years will bring to GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough. Thank you for helping to make these four years a success; we cannot wait to continue along this journey with our families, friends and volunteers!
