Shouting Their Worth!

We are getting ready to kick off another session of Cheer Gems, an active, energetic, group focused on positivity, recognition and spirit. Our program leader and assistant cheer coach are amazing and ready to help shout the worth of our Cheer Gems!

Meet Makayla!

Hello, I am Makaylah, a senior at Purdue Fort Wayne studying Biology to continue my education at Purdue’s College of Veterinary Medicine next Fall. I have cheered and tumbled for 12 years, two of which were competitive. For three years, I coached youth cheerleading teams in Decatur and have been an assistant high school cheerleading coach for two years. I am excited to share that I will be coaching the Cheer Gems this Fall, but more importantly I am excited for the impact we as cheerleaders get to make on the community. This sport is all about encouragement, teamwork, and connecting others. I could not think of a better place than GiGi’s Playhouse to fulfill such a role. My goals for this team are to prepare two live performances for the community, build confidence in front of crowds, and enhance proper voice projection. I cannot wait for this season and look forward to meeting the Cheer Gems and their friends soon!

Meet Grace

Hi, my name is Grace. I am 26-years-old and I have Spina Bifida. I am your new assistant cheer coach and I am very excited to join the Cheer Gems program. I have been cheering for 13 years with a cheer team with people with physical and conative disabilities. I’m looking forward to meeting everyone and having a good time.

This program has grown so much, that Cheer Gems will be meeting at Turnstone this year! To register and find out more information, please go to our website.
