Best Of All

Vincent participates in our 1:1 literacy program and has made huge strides this spring session!

This past session has been a little difficult for Vincent, especially with starting with his new tutor, Bette, after finally warming up to his prior tutor. The last couple weeks of session, he really settled and even would give Bette hugs. His very clear “Hi” is a big mark of confidence. Even staff has noticed more confidence with Vincent. In the beginning he was very hesitant to greet anyone and now he won’t start his session unless he has said hello to our Executive Director! He won’t leave unless he gets to say goodbye and gives a goodbye hug which we love. Vincent has also been working on his letters this session which is a big boost for him

On his last session this spring session, he brought a small gift for his tutor, Bette. He wanted to give it to her himself. When he did, he said very clearly, “Hi Bette.” This is something his mom has been working with him on all session. His mom states “I was so happy and proud that Vincent WANTED to give the gift and wanted to give it to Bette himself. It was all his decision. It’s great to see his growth, not just in tutoring, but as a person.” We are all very proud of him!
