Meet the Team: Teddy’s Troops

The “Why” Behind My Miles
When my son was first diagnosed with Down syndrome, I remember feeling a mix of fear, uncertainty, and concern. But walking into GiGi’s Playhouse for the first time when Teddy was five weeks old changed everything. We didn’t just find a building; we found a “second home” where my son is celebrated for exactly who he is.

What GiGi’s Means to Us
At GiGi’s, “achievement” isn’t just a word. It’s something we see every week. Whether it’s the music and language he gained during LMNOP classes, the academic growth we have seen from his Math and Literacy Tutoring, or improving his physical abilities during GiGiFIT classes, these programs are designed for the way individuals with Down syndrome learn best. Teddy has formed friendships with other kids who have attended programs at GiGi’s. We were regular attendees at LMNOP until he was three. Now that he is ten, he attends summer camp with kids he knows from his early GiGi’s days. The community is a true blessing.

It’s Empowering:
My son is gaining the confidence and skills he needs to thrive. He is reading. He can do addition and subtraction independently. He can tell time. He is in his school band and chorus. He plays soccer, basketball, and hockey. He loves to swim, ride horses, and take hip hop and tap classes. He loves his friends fiercely.

Why I’m Raising Money
I run because every dollar raised during the GiGi’s 5K, Dash for Down Syndrome directly funds these life-changing programs. By donating to our team, you aren’t just supporting a race; you are investing in a world that sees my son’s potential instead of his diagnosis.

Join Our Movement
Help us to celebrate “Generation G.” This is a core GiGi’s value that challenges people to be accepting, generous, and kind. Whether you run, walk, roll, or cheer from the sidelines, you are helping us send a global message of acceptance.

Let’s dash together for a more inclusive world!
