Scott comes out of his shell at Improv class!

Going from shy to STAR!

Scott is one of the many participants in our Fantastic Friends program. While he truly enjoys the program, he’s usually pretty shy and reserved before he participates. Scott is the guy who stands on the outsides and calculates what his next move will be. He was quick to join the group when they visited Second City for an Improv class! One volunteer said, “I was able to see a completely different side of Scott during our improv class. He was very witty when it came to thinking of a topic or acting out an activity. It was the most I had seen  him smile and he truly appeared to enjoy what he was doing and he was great at it! He definitely opened up and came out of his quiet/reserved shell.”

Thank You to The Second City!

Thanks for opening up your place for our program! We appreciate you creating a welcoming safe environment for our participants to let loose and get out of their comfort zone. We really appreciate all you’ve done for our Fantastic Friends and look forward to working with you guys again sometime in the future!

What is the Fantastic Friends Program?

GiGi’s Fantastic Friends is an interactive and engaging program for adults with Down syndrome. This program is built to include adults with Down syndrome and those without Down syndrome.  We support the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. Adult participants participate in the planning of activities so that everything the group does is based on interests. During Fantastic Friends, the group may explore their local community by participating in outings and events.  RSVP to the program using our online calendar!
