Meet Our Interns!

In January of 2020 with the help of our occupational therapy intern Anna, GiGi’s Playhouse Chicago was able to bring on 4 interns! They worked three to six hours per week where they gained the skills of following a specific routine, asking for help, and understanding job expectations and tasks. As a special bonus, they also got to wear special GiGi’s Playhouse polo shirts! Three of our interns took on administrative positions at the Playhouse, where they complete tasks such as cleaning and organizing, writing thank you notes to our donors, making trips to Trader Joes to buy food for Cooking Club, and more! One of our interns is a program intern, in which she helps lead the Wednesday Dance and Yoga group and acts as a peer model to participants. They have all been extremely hardworking, focused, and bring great energy to the Playhouse. We are so proud of them, and it has been great seeing them grow and become more confident in their roles. We can’t wait for them to join us again once the Playhouse is able to open its doors. We love having them around and want to recognize them for all of their hard work!

Diego, Administrative Intern, 23 Years Old

Diego’s favorite thing to do as part of his internship is clean! He loves to take out the trash, wipe down toys, and vacuum the Playhouse. If you have noticed that the Playhouse was cleaner in recent months, it’s because of him! You can also find Diego playing Spanish music and singing and dancing while he works. He is so sweet and always ready to learn.

Brenda, Administrative Intern, 20 Years Old

Brenda is our office work queen! She tells us she “loves paper” and likes to staple, hole punch, and put packets of paper together for the Playhouse to use. She is very organized and loves to work. We have enjoyed seeing her come out of her shell and become more outgoing with her internship.

Emily, Administrative Intern, 23 Years Old

Emily is miss independent and is great at doing tasks to the best of her ability first before asking for help. She is amazing at following checklists and completing everything on them! We love listening to what Emily did over the weekend, as she is a social butterfly and is always busy working other jobs and hanging out with friends.

Sandia, Program Intern, 16 Years Old

Sandia is such a great role model for the 7-12 year olds in the Dance and Yoga group. She always says hello to the participants and makes sure that they feel included. She learns the dance routines super fast and leads the moves at the front of the group. We love how outgoing and silly she is, and are so happy she enjoys her role!
