Taking a Break from the 5K in 2019 to Focus on Dance-A-Thon

To All Our Chicago Playhouse Families and Friends,

We wanted to let you know about a change we are making at the Chicago playhouse.  We have decided to not participate in the Regional 5K this year.  As most of you are aware, the Chicago playhouse has its own Chicago centric event called Get Down with Down Syndrome dance-a-thon.  The dance-a-thon is a fun, family-oriented event where you and your loved ones can show off your dance moves. Since its inception, the Dance-a-thon has raised over $150,000 that go directly towards our playhouse.  This event is low cost for us which means more money spent on FREE programs that we offer to all. We have a wonderful partnership with DePaul College Prep.  They graciously donate the space, provide student volunteers and have ample free parking.

This year the event will be held on Saturday October 26th, 2019.  It will mark our 5 year anniversary and promises to be a must not miss event.   We moved the date this year to the end of October in honor of Down syndrome acceptance month.  It is a great way to get your personal network of friends, family and community member involved in the month dedicated to those we love who have Down syndrome.

If you are a fan of the 5k of course you are more than welcome to attend.  We just hope you will consider saving your fundraising asks for the dance-a-thon.  If you are interested in getting involved with the planning of this event we would love to have you join our team of dedicated volunteers.  Please contact Amy Archer for more information on volunteering

See you all October 26th!
