Elvis has left the building

We had a SUPER time!

As most of you know, March 21st was World Down syndrome day and we did not miss the opportunity to celebrate it! Our theme was “Super”. You could come as a super hero or a super star/rock star. The playhouse was decked out and we were ready to have a super time. Everyone who came enjoyed the walkin’ tacos and served up by the unstoppable duo of Mae and Phoenix in the kitchen! Those ladies made sure no one left hungry. It was no secret who was in charge in that kitchen. Phoenix ran a tight ship! To top it off we had the pleasure of enjoying cookies made by the Wilmette Chapter of the National Charity League and they were delicious.

Fun and Games

If you weren’t enjoying a treat in the kitchen you were probably playing one of the games set up by the Kindness club. They had everyone playing their cardboard arcade games! The “Don’t try this at home” toilet paper toss game was the fan favorite along with the “Bermuda Triangle” paper airplane challeng. No party is complete without a Photo Booth! This was a great spot for all of our superstars and heroes to have their picture taken while donning their favorite accessories. Check out our facebook page for more pictures of the festivities!

Hunk-a Hunk-a Burning Love!

We were all a little star struck when Elvis took the stage! Hugo is an Elvis Tribute Artist and his performance rocked the house! Everyone young and old grabbed a microphone and sang

along to the classic hits like “Heartbreak Hotel” and “Blue Suede Shoes”. He graciously shared the stage with many of our playhouse rockstars.

Best of All

Sure everyone enjoyed the great food and entertainment but the real takeaway from the evening was how great our individuals with Down syndrome are and how much we love and want to celebrate them in our lives. World Down syndrome day isn’t just for those of us who already know what it means to have Down syndrome, it’s for those people in our communities who need a little more education. Make sure you’re spreading the #GenerationG message every day! Be accepting, be generous, and be kind. You can strive to do better today than you did yesterday. Take the pledge and post about it on Social Media. Help us spread the word!
