Sweeping Change: LinkedIn Volunteer Day

As many of you know, GiGi’s Playhouse Chicago is 99% volunteer-run, so when we get the opportunity to have partners in our community come in and help us, we get very excited. This month, we had 20 extraordinary individuals from LinkedIn dedicate their Friday morning to volunteering and helping us get organized in preparation for the new year!

Throughout the year, our team works hard to put together dozens of events and offer hundreds of free programming hours at GiGi’s Playhouse Chicago. To run these successfully, we utilize our basement to store all the decorations, games, supplies, and materials we need.  With so many generous donations, our basement needed some organizing and cleaning, and our friends at LinkedIn jumped on the task without hesitation.  In less than 2 hours, we had a significant portion of the basement cleaned, consolidated, organized, and labeled. We can confidently say that this was no small feat, and we would not be able to accomplish this task without the LinkedIn team!

“Cleaning out this section of the basement would have easily taken us a day or more. I am thankful LinkedIn was so generous with their time to help us out, and it was great to meet so many new people.”- Ryan Hearty, Governance Chair, Board of Directors

We are sincerely grateful for the help and support from our new friends at LinkedIn! It’s community partners and volunteers like them that allow us to continue providing free programming and hosting events for the Down syndrome community here in Chicago.
