2013 Raising the Baar Award: Steve and Sharyl Hanna

Hanna Baar Award 2 smaller sizeSteve and Sharyl Hanna are part of GiGi’s Chicago’s original families. Their grandaughter, Jade, has been featured on our windows, our calendar and our email blasts. From the beginning of the Playhouse, Steve and Sharyl have been a core part of our volunteer force, passing out candy at our annual Trick-or-Treating events, helping at our drama shows, soliciting donations, sponsoring volunteer celebrations, and training new volunteers. Whenever something is happening for GiGi’s Playhouse Chicago, we can count on Steve and Sharyl to be there.

Even after Jade moved away last year, they Hannas continued their high profile presence at our events, volunteer training, and literacy bookmaking. Our “Raising the Baar” award celebrates people who go above and beyond for our Playhouse, doing more than what is asked and dedicating their valuable time to continue our mission of celebrating the unlimited potential of people with Down syndrome. We can’t think of more deserving people to receive our 2013 award.

Thank you Steve and Sharyl.
