Lend Us a (Helping) Hand

As we prepare for the Gala, we need your help decorating an item that will be up for bidding during the live auction.

As part of GiGi’s efforts to celebrate the community we’ve created in Chicagoland and around the country, each Playhouse is contributing an auction item that will feature the hand-prints of program participants. One Playhouse is decorating a garden bench, another is putting their thumbprints on a plate. In Chicago, we’re contributing a Cubs jersey. And we want everyone involved in the Playhouse to help us decorate it.

When you come in for tutoring or a class, be sure to put your hand print on the jersey in either red or blue paint. We have the paint (and paper towels to clean off), and will be putting each person’s name on his or her hand print.

We’re coupling this jersey with two third row seats to a Cubs/Cardinals game in late September (donated by friend of the Playhouse Mike Rothkopf) for what we’re sure will be a great live auction item at the Gala.

What’s that? You don’t have tickets to the Gala yet? Get them here.

Feb10Jenny Hillman Joel,This is a fantastic ploahyuse! Enlarge it a little, and it’s a studio! We have been wanting to build something for our kids, too, and have them help with the process, so I am sure they will love this as inspiration. :)I would love to know more details about the construction; do you suppose you’ll have an updated post with a few steps of the building outlined? I am actually most interested in learning about how you hung the light in there, and how it’s wired (plugged in to an area directly outside? what about rainy weather? etc.). Once again, beautiful!Jenny
