Meet Our Summer Interns!

This Summer GiGi’s Playhouse is lucky to have BOCE’s P-TECH students with us as our Summer Interns. Pathways in Technology Early College High School (P-TECH) is a grant funded programs that allows students to earn their associate degree while working toward their high school regents diploma! This is a six year program, where students receive individualized academic support from high school and college faculty with specific industry skills and training.
Over this summer, the Playhouse has the pleasure of having Faith and Abrielle interning for 5 weeks!
Meet Faith!
“My name is Faith, I am 17 years old, and currently a Senior in high school/college through a PTECH program. I enjoy participating in literary arts such as String Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Steel Band Drum, Symphonic Winds, Wind Ensemble, and Jazz Band. I absolutely love reading, my favorite genres being Thriller, Mystery, and recently Fantasy. I enjoy deeper tasks like puzzles, art, baking/cooking, and doing schoolwork.
I was interested in interning at GiGi’s because I knew they worked with kids that have Down syndrome and I was always interested in learning more about it because I think everyone should have a basic knowledge of it. Also there are kids here and I personally love working with kids. I hope to gain knowledge of how to work with people with Down syndrome and understand it deeply, but most importantly, getting leadership skills when teaching and the kids. Whatever knowledge I gain from GiGi’s I truly hope for it to follow through my future career as either a NICU Travel Nurse, or a Forensic scientist!”
Meet Abrielle:
“My name is abrielle and i’m 16 years old, and currently a senior in High School/College. Some of my hobbies include baking, going for walks and watching my favourite shows. I am interested in GiGi’s because of the welcoming environment it brings and it also aligns with the career I would like to enter in my coming years. I am hoping to gain some more experience with working with children that have Down syndrome. In the future I want to become a NICU Nurse because I have always loved the idea of doing a lifelong career that involves babies and taking care of babies, so when I did my research, I instantly fell in love with that career.”
As the summer unfolds, we are incredibly grateful to have such passionate, driven, and kind-hearted individuals like Faith and Abrielle join us at GiGi’s Playhouse. Their dedication to learning, their enthusiasm for working with our participants, and their aspirations to serve others through future careers in healthcare are truly inspiring. We look forward to seeing all the amazing things they will accomplish this summer and then beyond the Playhouse and are honored to be a part of their journey. Thank you, Faith and Abrielle, for bringing your energy, compassion, and curiosity to our GiGi’s family this summer!
