At GiGi’s, our volunteers are at the heart of all we do.  Without our volunteers, GiGi’s wouldn’t be the amazing place that it is.  Two volunteers that we would like to highlight are Chris Teich and his Dad, Jim.  Chris is a 2020 Webster High School Graduate who is now attending Nazareth College and is a participant in GiGi’s Epic Club.  The Epic Club includes teen and adult GiGi’s participants who help to change the way the world views Down syndrome and send a global message of acceptance for all through various activities at the Playhouse.  They volunteer at GiGi’s in a variety of capacities ranging from spring cleaning the playhouse to helping out at events such as the yearly golf tournament and gala.  The added bonus of this club is socializing with each other!

When Covid-19 restricted the Clubs’ ability to meet in person, Chris and Jim began weekly virtual meetings.  This has been amazing for this group to stay connected, socialize, and continue to spread their message to the Rochester community and the world.  Every week, Chris and his Dad plan various activities ranging from scavenger hunts, to trivia to sending thank you notes to our health care workers working on the front lines of the Covid-19 pandemic.  Every week, Chris and Jim facilitate fun, engaging and meaningful activities to help keep this group connected during these unprecedented times.

One of the best parts of GiGi’s Playhouse is the connections we make with others at our playhouses.  While this is difficult to replicate in a virtual setting, Chris and Jim have made it possible.  Thank you, Chris and Jim for your dedication to The Epic Club, GiGi’s Playhouse, and helping to spread our message, especially during these difficult times.
