Volunteer
Thank you for your interest in volunteering! GiGi's Playhouse is 99% volunteer-run, and we rely on the dedication of volunteers of various levels of expertise to keep our programs vibrant, educational, fun, and free..

Program Roles
Interested in working directly with GiGi’s Playhouse participants? GiGi's Playhouse offers therapeutic and educational programs for all age groups— from prenatal diagnosis to adulthood. Consider the following roles with one of our programs:
Program Co-Leaders: These volunteers both choose the program activities and facilitate their delivery. Preferred candidates are highly enthusiastic, organized, and hold a particular interest in supporting people with different abilities. While many of our co-leaders have prior experience in developmental therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language development, social work, or special education, it is not required that co-leads have advanced education.
Program Assistants: These volunteers support program delivery by preparing materials, engaging positively with participants, facilitating activities, and celebrating participants’ Best of All moments.
Program Greeters: Greeters ensure the safe entry and exit of program participants and their families during programs. They greet guests as they arrive, and assist with checking in.
Host Family: The Host Family attends the assigned program each session so that no family must attend on their own. They strengthen the community of GiGi’s Playhouse. Host Families often have a family member with Down syndrome, but it is not required.
Immediate Program Volunteer Needs
Fantastic Friends: A fun gathering to facilitate social interactions between adults with Down syndrome, their peers, and the community. (Held on the 1st, 3rd, 5th Saturdays of the month @ 10am - 11:30am)
Destination Discovery: Supports the development of fine motor skills, gross motor skills, social skills and language through purposeful play and peer-to-peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. This program also brings families together to share experiences and build relationships. All ages welcome. (Held on the 1st, 3rd, 5th Saturdays of the month @ 2pm - 3:30pm)
