Enjoying the 2016 i have a Voice gala with friends.

January 5, 2015; My first official day as the Site Coordinator at GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough. The week was a hectic buzz of everyone getting ready for the official Grand Opening which was six days after my start date.

In the weeks and months that have followed the Playhouse opening I learned more than I ever thought I could from working here. I knew after my second interview that this would be a life changing job, and would be devastated if I wasn’t offered the job, but that wasn’t the case. Here I sit in my office a year and a half later still loving my job.

Program fun at LMNOP.

Program fun at LMNOP.

I always knew that individuals with Down syndrome were good people, I never knew how Great they were. Every time a participant walks through the front door for a program, or to volunteer their time or just to hang out, I know I will take something away from that experience. I have learned more sign language, ways to communicate and most importantly to enjoy every day to the fullest.

The volunteers who so generously give of their time to help at the Playhouse remind me what an awesome community the Playhouse is surrounded by. Without their help, I could never keep the Playhouse open and programs staffed, and I will continue thank every single volunteer for all of the time they donate to GiGi’s.

I love my role as Site Coordinator at GiGi’s Playhouse Hillsborough a little more as each day passes. The first year and a half has been amazing, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me, the Playhouse and all of its fabulous participants!
