Meet Our Site Manager

“Exciting News: Breana Crenshaw Takes the Lead as Site Manager at GiGi’s Playhouse Charleston”
By: Marie Myers, Board President
We are thrilled to announce that Breana Crenshaw will be stepping into the role of Site Manager at GiGi’s Playhouse Charleston, effective January 30th.
Breana’s journey has been one of inspiration, resilience, and unwavering dedication—not only to her family but to our community. As a first-time mom to her beautiful daughter, Hunter, who has Down syndrome, Breana quickly became an advocate and a beacon of strength for other families navigating a similar journey.
When Breana learned about Hunter’s Down syndrome diagnosis early in her pregnancy, she took it as a call to action. Determined to be the best mom she could be for Hunter, Breana immersed herself in learning everything she could about Down syndrome. Her drive for understanding and supporting Hunter’s needs mirrored the same drive that has guided her throughout her career.
Breana holds a Master’s Degree in School Counseling from Liberty University and began working as a school counselor in August 2022. Just months later, she became a new mom. Breana’s world took a dramatic turn when Hunter needed open-heart surgery as an infant. Choosing to stay home to care for Hunter during her recovery, Breana dedicated herself fully to her daughter’s well-being and therapies—an experience that deepened her commitment to advocacy.
Our paths first crossed at the 2022 Buddy Walk when Breana, pregnant with Hunter, and her husband Dylan stopped by our table. I had been in touch with her over Facebook after learning of Hunter’s diagnosis, so it was such a joy to meet Breana face-to-face. Since then, Breana has been an essential part of our team, volunteering her time and talents in a variety of roles.
In 2023, Breana stepped up as a key volunteer and has contributed immensely to our efforts, from grant writing and marketing to event planning and database management. Her dedication and hard work earned her the title of Volunteer of the Year for 2024, a well-deserved recognition of her commitment to our mission. Breana also took the opportunity to attend the GiGi’s Playhouse National Conference in Chicago this past November, where she networked and absorbed valuable insights to further enhance our Playhouse’s impact in the community.
Breana’s exceptional work ethic, her passion for our mission, and her ability to connect with others make her the ideal person to lead GiGi’s Playhouse Charleston. Beyond her work with us, Breana has created a support network for parents of children in Hunter’s age group and has extended this network to welcome and support new families just beginning their journey with Down syndrome.
We are beyond excited to welcome Breana into her new role as Site Manager. Her experience, leadership, and genuine love for our community make her the perfect person to help us continue growing and serving. The GiGi’s Playhouse Charleston Board of Managers is confident that Breana will be a fantastic face of our Playhouse, and we can’t wait to see the incredible impact she will have in this new capacity.
Please join us in congratulating Breana on her new role and stay tuned for more exciting updates from GiGi’s Playhouse Charleston!
