On Saturday evening, the Charleston community gathered in celebration, advocacy, and unity at our inaugural "I Have a Voice" Gala in support of GiGi’s Playhouse Charleston. The evening was a powerful reminder of the strength and spirit behind our mission to change the way the world views Down syndrome and to send a global message of acceptance for all.

The night began with our "I Have a Voice" video, directed by our Board Secretary and Gala Chair, Michelle Tonkonogy, which beautifully captured the voices and stories at the heart of our Playhouse. This was followed by a welcome address and keynote speech from our Site Manager, Breana Crenshaw, who shared her personal journey, highlighted our free educational and therapeutic programs, and introduced one of our fantastic participants whose story reflects the life-changing impact of our work.

Guests then enjoyed a seated dinner as we honored three outstanding individuals who exemplify our values of inclusion, generosity, and leadership:

• Paula Richnafsky, recipient of the Generation G in the 843 Award
• Heather Cotone, recipient of the Shining Star Award
• Marie Myers, our dedicated Board President, who was surprised with the Difference Maker Award

The awards were presented by Kim Jenkins, our Board Treasurer, and Paul Vogel, an adult participant with Down syndrome and a vibrant part of our Playhouse community.

Our live auction kicked off with enthusiasm and purpose, followed by a heartfelt Bid from the Heart led by Nancy Gianni, Founder and Chief Belief Officer of GiGi’s Playhouse, and her daughter GiGi. Their words and presence brought even deeper meaning to the evening, reminding us all why this mission matters.

As the evening drew to a close, The Flash Mob Band delivered an energetic and memorable performance that left the room on a high note.
