Early Intervention – How can GiGi’s help? 

GiGi’s Playhouse works to help families of individuals with Down syndrome navigate through a world that they may not have imagined prior to their child’s diagnosis. From multiple appointments, therapies, and an overload of information, that path can be somewhat daunting. Our mission is help to lighten the load and increase the confidence and knowledge for all of those involved in bettering their loved one’s life. Many parents and caregivers may not be aware of the important benefits of early intervention for their child. All children deserve the best possible start in life and early intervention services can change a child’s developmental path and improve outcomes for children, families, and communities.  

What is early intervention? Early intervention is identifying and providing effective early support to children who may be experiencing developmental delays. Effective early intervention works to prevent or tackle problems head-on before they become significant. Overall, it helps to foster a set of strengths and skills to prepare a child to thrive and progress physically, cognitively, and socially. 

It is important to note that all children develop at their own rate. Whether that involves more observation first or going for it without hesitation, there is no wrong way to learn! While most programs only offer therapies for those with disabilities up to a certain age, GiGi’s Playhouse has a LIFETIME commitment to their families! That means that your child will never age out or be turned away from our free therapies because of their age. Does it get any better than that?! Actually, it does! Even from a prenatal diagnosis, GiGi’s Playhouse ensures that you receive the best guidance possible in learning and navigating through your child’s diagnosis. We believe Down syndrome is not a risk but a reward, and to anyone who has been blessed to know and love someone with Down syndrome understands the possibilities that lie within that diagnosis.
