So pick a decade or dance style, form a team and come dressed up! Rather dance from a social distance? Sign up and move at home but be sure to take pictures and show the world how accepting you are. Come join us in any way you can as as we participate in a physical and social movement for acceptance to prove that everyone is accepted for who they are!

What's the Challenge?

To MOVE for your health and MOVE for global acceptance! You can walk, run, lift, play sports, swim, whatever!  WE challenge ONE MILLION people to collectively participate in a physical and social movement for acceptance to prove that everyone is accepted for who they are.

Why the Challenge?

We live in a world that is often separated based on differences. It is time for people to come together regardless of race, gender, diagnosis, sexual orientation, or religion. We need universal ACCEPTANCE for all people. This is why WE, the people of the Down syndrome community, are challenging YOU to move for acceptance – to prove that every person should be accepted for who they are.

Join the Challenge

Last year, you helped us take over 1 billion steps for acceptance! That’s enough to go to the moon and back – twice! TOGETHER we can accomplish even more! This year we are asking you to MOVE for Acceptance and ask others to join you! Join individually or create a team! The more people that commit to MOVE, the more we will be able to MOVE the world towards global acceptance for all.

Edward

“GiGi’s Westchester means so much to us! When we first found it, 5 years ago, Edward was very young, and it was a safe haven for all of us. It gave us the ability to see/witness what possibilities were ahead of us for our son, which filled us with so much comfort and hope.”
- Laura, Edward’s mom

Nathan

GiGi’s means community to me. When I began on the start-up committee, it was a group of women who I could connect with. Then as we worked to open our Playhouse, that community expanded and my son had kids that looked like him to play with and adults with Ds to look up to. GiGi’s is a space where we can bring Nathan and not feel like we have to worry about how he’s going to act or what he will/won’t do. It’s a place for him to be himself and be wholly accepted. GiGi’s is our extended family and even if we don’t get to the physical space as often as we’d like, we know we still have that connection.”

Samantha

“GiGi’s Playhouse Westchester has many great programs such as Teen Tastic, Cooking Club and GiGiFIT that encourage the teens and give them life skills all while making fantastic friends. GiGi’s offers a much needed inclusive place for our teenagers.”
- Marybeth, Samantha’s mom
