Why Did You Join GiGi’s Playhouse Wausau?

I joined GiGi’s Playhouse Wausau after hearing about the organization when I moved to Wausau in 2020.  I have always believed in the power of community to uplift and empower individuals, and GiGi’s Playhouse Wausau embodies this spirit. Based on organization’s commitment to providing free educational and therapeutic programs for individuals with Down syndrome I wanted to be a part of this impactful mission in the community I was making my home. 

What Do You Enjoy About Your Role as President?

One aspect of my role as Board President that I truly enjoy is the opportunity to witness firsthand the positive changes in the lives of our participants and their families. Being able to see the impact that GiGi’s Playhouse has on our participants and their family members reminds me daily of the importance of our work and the difference we are making in the community.

Do You Have Any Advice for Those Considering Board Involvement?

For anyone considering board involvement, my advice is to dive in with an open heart and a willingness to learn. Being on the board is not just about making decisions; it’s about being an advocate, a supporter, and a leader. Embrace the opportunity to contribute your unique skills and perspectives, and be prepared to grow both personally and professionally through the experience.

How Are You Embracing Generation G as a New Parent?

As a new parent, teaching my daughter Evelyn to embrace Generation G—GiGi’s Playhouse’s global campaign for acceptance and kindness—is a priority. I want her to grow up in a world where diversity is celebrated and everyone is valued for their unique abilities. By instilling these values in her from a young age, I hope to contribute to a more inclusive and compassionate world.
