At GiGi\u2019s Virtual Playhouse, every tutoring session is more than just practice\u2014it\u2019s a step toward building confidence, independence, and a love of learning. Our volunteer tutors work one-on-one with participants, helping them reach their goals both inside and outside the classroom. And sometimes, those moments of growth show up in the most exciting ways.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For Lena, one of those moments came last week.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Maria, Lena\u2019s literacy tutor, joined their weekly session expecting to work on reading and writing as usual. But Lena had something special planned. With a huge smile, she told Maria she had a surprise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cClose your eyes!\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When Maria opened them, she saw a letter proudly displayed on the screen. As she began reading it, the excitement grew:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dear Student and Parent\/Guardian:<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Congratulations! Rosalena has achieved academic excellence by earning one or more academic awards. This is an outstanding achievement and one for which we want to honor your student. Please join us in the Mall Auditorium, at which time Rosalena will be presented with an academic award.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

It was official\u2014Lena had earned her very first academic award!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Her mom shared that not only is this Lena\u2019s first award, but her grades have been improving ever since she began GiGi\u2019s Literacy Tutoring. That news meant the world to Maria.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cI was so happy to hear this,\u201d Maria said. \u201cIt made me realize I am truly making a difference in her life. I\u2019m grateful to work with her and help her as she makes strides in her academic career. I just know GiGi\u2019s is making such an impact on everyone that participates in their programs.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n

Moments like these are what GiGi\u2019s is all about\u2014celebrating progress, cheering on achievements, and reminding every participant that their hard work matters. We are so proud of Lena for her dedication and can\u2019t wait to see her continue to shine in school and beyond.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
