{"id":141792,"date":"2026-03-27T11:23:38","date_gmt":"2026-03-27T15:23:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/syracuse\/?p=141792"},"modified":"2026-03-27T11:23:38","modified_gmt":"2026-03-27T15:23:38","slug":"literacy-changes-everything-how-gigis-playhouse-builds-lifelong-skills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gigisplayhouse.org\/syracuse\/uncategorized\/literacy-changes-everything-how-gigis-playhouse-builds-lifelong-skills","title":{"rendered":"Literacy Changes Everything: How GiGi\u2019s Playhouse Builds Lifelong Skills"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On a regular day, seven-year-old Sebbie told his mom\u00a0<em>he<\/em>\u00a0would read a story to\u00a0<em>her.\u00a0<\/em>Surprised, Nykole, Sebbie\u2019s mom, joyfully sat down and listened to her son read! \u00a0Something he had never done before he attended 1:1 tutoring at GiGi\u2019s Playhouse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">When Nykole met Ann, Sebbie\u2019s tutor, Nykole asked, Ann if she thought Sebbie could be reading at his age even though he had Down syndrome, Ann emphatically said, \u201cYes!\u201d This started a ripple effect; Ann modeled techniques Nykole used at home and then Nykole shared these with Sebbie\u2019s school, increasing his success everywhere. Nykole reports she sees confidence in her son that wasn\u2019t there before. She immediately replied, \u201cAbsolutely go! Sebbie loves GiGi\u2019s Playhouse!\u201d In addition to tutoring he attends GiGiFIT, where his peers mentor him. Sebbie watches the other kids like him and is empowered to succeed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">You can make a difference!
