Jazzmine graduated from High School in 2017 & participated in LCISD\u2019s Adult Transition program. It\u2019s a program offered to individuals with special needs where they learn life skills, set goals and get out into the community to learn job training skills. \u00a02020 would have been her final year and unfortunately, she was unable to finish it or participate in her final banquet with her team for the Special Olympics which she had been apart of for more than 10 years. She participated in bowling, basketball & track and field and enjoyed every bit of it. \u00a0Her world was turned upside down with the pandemic hit.<\/p>\n

We had taken her to a couple of things at GiGi\u2019s before the pandemic and then participated in the drive thru Trunk or Treat and after, we kept trying to convince her to go.\u00a0 Finally, we caught her on a good day and we convinced her to go and participate in the Christmas ornament exchange with the Gratitude Committee.\u00a0 There are no words to describe the happiness on her face when we picked her up that day! \u00a0She had a HUGE Kool-Aid smile and kept asking when she could go back to her \u201cnew-school\u201d.\u00a0 \u00a0Now every morning she comes out and says, \u201cGood morning, I\u2019m ready for school\u201d.\u00a0 When we pick her up it\u2019s all smiles every time.\u00a0 She now participates in Gratitude Committee, GiGi Prep, Fantastic Friends and will start Speech Therapy this summer.\u00a0 \u00a0During 2020 there was no motivation, all she wanted to do was be on her iPad and nap and now \u00a0it\u2019s \u201cAm I going to GiGi\u2019s today\u201d?\u00a0 Programs like this are a total and complete blessing in our eyes because Jazzy is back to being Jazzy and there is nothing better than that!<\/p>\n
