The “26th BEERS, BUDS, & BIRDIES MIKE JACKSON MEMORIAL TEAM MATEO 4-MAN SCRAMBLE” Golf tournament has been going on for 27 years. For four years, the Candelario family has been approached by Nino LaRussa, who has run this tournament for all 27 years. He was looking for a new charity support and had fallen in love with Mateo and the Down syndrome community. For the last two years (and many more to come) the tournament has donated all earnings to GiGi’s Playhouse San Diego.<\/div>\n

However, this year was definitely different. Due to strict protocols less golfers were allowed, masks worn and no luncheon afterward. Despite all the changes the golfers had a great time and money was raised! Mateo usually enjoys hanging out for the day and giving high fives to the golfers. Mateo loves seeing the golfers and the golfers love hanging out with Mateo. No high fives were given but Mateo got to make two cameo appearances from a distance. We are honored to be able to raise money for GiGi’s Playhouse San Diego and to raise awareness for individuals with Down syndrome.<\/div>\n
