Leila’s Library
A Beautiful Soul Lives On
While many of us have not had the pleasure of knowing Leila in life, her presence is certainly felt and honored here at GiGi’s Playhouse San Diego. Her parents, Steve and Terry Forsythe state she was a passionate force to be reckoned with especially when it came down to the Down syndrome community and most notably, her beloved son Milo.
The beautiful family could often be found participating during the early learners programs such as LMNOP, Music Therapy and Leaps & Bounds. GiGi’s Playhouse became their home away from home and a place where connections and friends were made continuing on for a lifetime and beyond.
GiGi’s Playhouse is truely a place where magic and lasting memories are imprinted within us. A place Leila’s son Milo grew to love and made a best buddy, Mateo.
The original library was created in honor of their daughter and her love for all things GiGi’s. They wanted other families to have and share resources that their daughter Leila would have wanted to share, keeping her memory so much alive and loved. Through the years and the Playhouse ever changing ways, Steve and Terry decided to revamp the library, adding new literature for new families as well as new books for kiddos as well as a beautifully hand crafted “Leila’s Library” sign.
Terry stated that she knows although her daughter would not have wanted so much attention drawn to her, should would and probably is smiling down at the wonderful space families have been given, where they can relax and come together during different GiGi’s programs. Just as she had when she began her journey with Milo.
GiGi’s Playhouse San Diego are thankful for our amazing families and what they share with others. A huge heart felt thank you to Steve and Terry Forsythe for this beautiful gift to share. We will continue to honor Leila and her love of all things GiGi’s!
We invite family, friends and the community to utilize all the resources in Leila’s Library and are welcome to gift, recommend and share other useful literature to our community.
