We are getting ready for a summer of fun here at GiGi’s Playhouse San Diego!

Music Therapy (ages 5-8)

GiGi’s Playhouse and Resounding Joy will be offering educational Music Therapy for children 5-8. Siblings of any age are welcome! To register please email jveroneau@gigisplayhouse.org

Music Therapy (ages 8+)
GiGi’s Playhouse and Resounding Joy will be offering  Music Therapy Jam sessions for ages 8-18.  Siblings of any age are welcome! To register please email jveroneau@gigisplayhouse.org
Every Wednesday 11:30 a.m.- 12:30 p.m.  starting July 10th
Open Play (all ages)
This program invites families and their friends to the Playhouse for playtime! Open Play helps promote positive beginnings for new families with a child with Down syndrome, creates awareness opportunities for peers and friends, as well as support and networking for current families. Come ready for fun and a crazy good time! Open to families with children of all ages and their friends.
Every Tuesday 10:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. starting June 18th
Cooking Club (ages 8+)
Get cooking with your friends at GiGi’s! This program is geared toward building
safety awareness in the kitchen and preparing healthy recipes that taste great. Recommended for ages 8 and up. Siblings are welcome!
We will hold a 6 week summer session from July 11th- August 15th.

Dance Therapy Exercise (ages 13+)
Partnering with Juan Carlos Dance Organization we are excited to offer Dance Therapy Exercise for Teens and Adults. This class stimulate joy, acceptance and achievement. We use a repertoire of body movements through guided dance and rhythmic exercise programs that builds trust, physical strength, and provides a safe, supportive environment. Benefits: Improve physical health, and wellness. All levels of fitness& siblings are welcome.

Join us for a summer camp style program August 20th-23rd each day from 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. ! We will have a new theme and activity every day. The last day we will have a beach day to end a week of fun! Activities will include tie-dying, water games, and a scavenger hunt!

We will be rolling out our 1-on-1 Literacy Tutoring this summer! In August, you will be able to apply to have your child be a student for the fall. The GiGi’s Playhouse 1:1 Literacy Tutoring Program uses a methodology with documented success based on research by professionals in the field. Trained tutors work at the level of the child, continually challenging and encouraging him/her to reach their Best of All.  Students can start in our program as early as age 3 or any age after that. It’s never too late to start!  Weekly lessons last 45-60 minutes for 10-12 weeks at a time.  Family members attend each tutoring session and leave with practical activities to continue the learning at home.  

We need YOUR help in planning purposeful programs that meet your needs and fit your schedule. We will also be discussing the possibility of mobile programming for North and South County. This is a ‘kids optional’ event, but as mentioned, we will have a movie playing in the backroom along with some volunteers to keep them quietly entertained.

Summer Schedule for Existing Programs

Music Therapy (Birth-5 years)
North County & GiGi’s Playhouse

GiGi’s Playhouse and Resounding Joy will be offering  FREE Music Therapy for children 0 – 5. The session will run from May 1st- August 15th Siblings of any age are welcome! To register please email jveroneau@gigisplayhouse.org
Every Wednesday 9:30- 10:00 a.m. (ages 0-2) & 10:10-11:00 a.m. (ages 3-5) @ GiGi’s Playhouse
Every Thursday from 4:30 – 5:30 pm @ ARC Center in San Marcos

Crawlers and Walkers (ages 1-3)

Crawlers and Walkers focuses on the development of gross and fine motor skills through fun, hands- on activities! Activities will focus on strengthening, movement, and balance.

LMNOP (0-3 years)

LMNOP is an interactive and engaging program designed to guide parents and young children through learning basic sign language and other forms of communication using music and language-based activities.  We recommend this program for ages Birth-5 Years.

 Leaps & Bounds (3-5 years)

This program focuses on the development of large and small muscle groups. Children will participate in fun and engaging activities that require movement and interaction with their development. Our Leaps & Bounds program is recommended for ages 3-5 year olds.

 Playhouse Pals (5-8 years)

Playhouse Pals is an interactive and engaging program for participants ages 5 through 8. We support the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. This program also supports gross motor skills through active games, as well as fine motor skills & self-help skills

Kids Club (8-12)

Kids Club supports the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. This program will also support gross motor skills through active games, fine motor, and self-help skills through meal/ snack preparation activities.
Karate Kickers focuses on development of balance, coordination, discipline, focus, attention, and confidence. There will be no physical contact between peers. For youth with Down syndrome ages 8 and up. Siblings are welcome!

 Crossfit @ Crossfit Humanity (8+)

Join GiGi’s Playhouse and CrossFit Humanity for a fitness program for ages 8+ and their siblings.The coaches will teach technique and formulate routines to help participants reach their goals and work on wellness while being be part of a supportive community! You don’t have to attend every week to participate, we just ask you RSVP if you are interested in joining!

Teen Tastic (13-17 years)

Teen Tastic is an interactive and engaging program for teens ages 13-17. This program is for teenagers with Down syndrome and those without Down syndrome. We support the developmenet of social skills, fine motor skills, self-help skills, and language through peer to peer interactiong in a casusal and fun setting.

Fantastic Friends (Adults)

Our Fantastic Friends program supports the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual fun setting. Adult participants participate in the planning of activities so that group activities are based on personal interests. During Fantastic Friends, the group may participate in active games, dancing or exploring their local community by participating in outings and events.  We recommend Fantastic Friends for ages 18 years and older.
