The One-on-One Literacy tutoring program for individuals with Down syndrome provides instruction based on the interests and inspirations of each student.\u00a0The Literacy tutoring program supports the increase of sight word recognition, vocabulary, comprehension, articulation, self-esteem, speech clarity\u00a0and fine motor skills. GiGiMOVE<\/strong> is a fun, inclusive fitness program for individuals with Down syndrome that helps participants build strength, coordination, confidence, and social skills through movement-based activities. The program is adapted to fit participants\u2019 interests and abilities, offering activities such as team sports, circuit workouts, yoga, martial arts, rhythm-based fitness, and more! GiGiMOVE supports physical development, sensory regulation, and social engagement while encouraging a lifelong love of movement.<\/p>

LMNOP<\/h4>\n

Language Music N' Our Peeps (LMNOP) is an interactive and engaging program designed to guide parents and young children through learning basic sign language and other forms of communication while using music and language-based activities. Recommended for ages pre-natal to 36 months.<\/p>

Family members are\u00a0key participants in this program and will encourage their child to reach his or her Best\u00a0of All throughout each session.\u00a0\u00a0Recommended for ages 3-5 year olds.<\/p>

Busy Hands Bigger Plans<\/h4>\n

While this program is primarily a handwriting group, we will focus on the many skills necessary for handwriting. Fine motor, sensory awareness, social interactions and language skill development will also be incorporated. Recommended for young learners developing handwriting skills.<\/p>

GiGi\u2019s Kitchen\u00a0Kids\u00a0is designed to emphasize the importance of\u00a0a healthy lifestyle\u00a0and early exposure\u00a0to practical cooking skills\u00a0Under the guidance of program leaders, participants will\u00a0engage in activities designed to promote healthy eating habits, kitchen safety awareness, food preparation skills,\u00a0self-confidence, and social skills by applying learned skills as they prepare and enjoy a shared meal\/snack!\u00a0 This program is recommended for ages 6-12 year olds.<\/p>

Under the guidance of program leaders, participants will learn about and progress through skills including measurements, food handling, knife skills, ingredient identification, palate expansion, and nutrition. Participants will be introduced to various cooking techniques. The GiGi\u2019s Kitchen Teen program will build participants' self-esteem and self-confidence through nutrition and wellness!\u00a0This program is recommended for ages 13-17.<\/p>

The GiGi\u2019s Achievers program empowers adults with Down syndrome with purposeful activities to ensure continued learning and fulfillment of life. Each lesson will provide participants with "hands on\u201d learning experiences in a naturally occurring environment. A participant must be 18+ to attend this program.\u00a0<\/p>

GiGiFIT Infant<\/h4>\n

GiGi Professional<\/h4>\n

Whether it\u2019s an office, retail environment, a design studio, or a production space, GiGi\u2019s career internship programs build on the skills learned in GiGi U with practical applications and the achievement of certifications. During each 13-week internship, participants with Down syndrome will purposefully progress through certifications; learning and demonstrating strengths and interests in\u00a0transferable job skills, building their resume for placement in a job or volunteer position in the\u00a0community. The GiGi Prep program has an emphasis on building communication skills, money management, customer service skills, team building, health and wellness over a 10-week session made up of 2-days per week instructional learning. This program is an application based program with high expectations to motivate adults with Down syndrome. Recommended for Adults 18+.<\/p>

GiGi U<\/h4>\n

A comprehensive and progressive learning program tailored specifically for adults with Down syndrome comprised of a 15-week session made up of 3-days per week instructional program. GiGi U is designed for motivated adults with Down syndrome to achieve their highest potential in the real world while developing their abilities in the areas of wellness, communication and career skills with emphasis on job interviewing, communication skills, money management, public speaking, customer service, computer skills, team building and health.\u00a0\u00a0Recommended for Adults 18+.<\/p>

GiGi University is an enrollment based program that is offered in sessions throughout the year. For our enrollment programs we ask that families fill out an application for their desired program. GiGiFIT Preschoolers<\/h4>\n

GiGiFIT\u00a0Preschoolers\u00a0includes foundational, vestibular and targeted mobility movements, reflex integration and control. We have taken these movements and concepts to the next level in a fast-paced, super fun and socially interactive atmosphere for young children who have recently mastered the ability to walk on their own.\u00a0Recommended for independent walking to 5 year olds.<\/p>

During GiGiFIT You & I the #1 goal is to foster relationships and develop a positive community among caregivers. The fact that we are adding movement is a bonuswith a focus on sneaky physical therapy to improve joint stability, strength, endurance, balance and coordination. We have introduced the concepts of GiGiFIT Adult and GiGiFIT Infant to caregivers of infants with Down syndrome.\u00a0Recommended for Moms, Dads, Grandparents, Caregivers and their newborn.<\/p>

GiGi's Kitchen Adult<\/h4>\n

GiGi\u2019s Kitchen Adult is designed to emphasize the importance of health and wellness through\u00a0nutrition education,\u00a0kitchen\u00a0safety, food preparation, social activities and a shared meal\/snack. Under the guidance of program leaders, participants will learn about and progress through skills including measurements, food handling, knife skills, ingredient identification, palate expansion, and nutrition. Participants will be introduced to various cooking techniques. The GiGi\u2019s Kitchen Adult program will build participants' self-esteem and self-confidence through nutrition and wellness!\u00a0This program is recommended for ages 18+.<\/p>

GiGi\u2019s Ambassadors will have exemplary communications skills and be an active member of their community. They fully understand and convey the mission of GiGi\u2019s Playhouse, \u201cTo change the way the world views Down syndrome and to send a global message of acceptance for all.\u201d GiGi\u2019s Ambassadors are self-advocates and well versed in \u201cWhat GiGi\u2019s Playhouse means to me.\u201d<\/p>

A GiGi\u2019s Ambassador is a role model and inspiration for all who enter GiGi\u2019s Playhouse.\u00a0\u00a0A participant who completes the GiGi\u2019s Ambassador certification will be given opportunities to represent GiGi\u2019s Playhouse both in-house and in the community.\u00a0They will have opportunities to actively engage in Playhouse Tours, Awareness Booths, be asked to speak at community engagement events, be an active Board of Manager member and interviews about GiGi\u2019s Playhouse<\/p><\/p>\n\n

The GiGi\u2019s One-on-One Occupational Therapy program is designed to promote health, well-being, independence and self-confidence for people with Down syndrome to improve their overall quality of life by allowing them to more fully participate in their important daily life activities.\u00a0This program supports the development of fine and gross motor skills, functional movement, visual motor and visual-perceptual skills, sensory processing, emotional regulation, executive functioning, daily living skills, social and cognitive skills as well as community and vocational readiness. Recommended for all ages.<\/p>

Occupational Therapy 1:1 is an enrollment-based program that is offered throughout the year. For our enrollment programs, we ask that families fill out an application for their desired program. \nPlease register for group programs ahead of time through the\u00a0website calendar<\/a>\u00a0using your\u00a0“My GiGi’s”<\/a>\u00a0account. This helps staff and volunteers plan accordingly and communicate any\u00a0additional\u00a0information and\/or\u00a0updates if needed.\u00a0\u00a0\n

If you have questions or trouble accessing your My GiGi’s account, please contact\u00a0staff<\/a>. We are happy to walk you through the process or\u00a0assist\u00a0with registration by phone or email.\u00a0<\/p>\nProgram Commitment:<\/b>
\nPrograms are free for families, but they are not free for us to offer. Our volunteers and staff carefully\u00a0prepare for\u00a0each program, and funding is used for food, printing, supplies, and other program materials.\u00a0\n

\nAn adult parent\/caregiver must remain in the building during the program. Please inform anyone\u00a0bringing\u00a0your participant. Parental\u00a0or adult\u00a0involvement is encouraged and sometimes\u00a0required\u00a0for our younger friends.\u00a0\nParticipants Age 14 & Up:<\/b>
\nA current\u00a0medical information card<\/a>\u00a0for all participants and volunteers age 14 and older, including\u00a0emergency contact\u00a0information,\u00a0must be on file before participants may be dropped off for programming. Medical information cards\u00a0will\u00a0be updated annually.\u00a0\n

Participants attending programs independently must also be fully independent in the restroom, including managing clothing, hygiene, and toileting needs.\u00a0Staff and volunteers are unable to provide personal care assistance.\u00a0Participants who\u00a0require\u00a0support are welcome to attend with a parent, caregiver, or support person who\u00a0remains\u00a0in the building throughout the duration of the program.\u00a0<\/p>\n\t
