June Happenings 2020

GiGi’s is continuing to offer virtual programs locally and nationally as we work through a detailed plan for reopening in staggered stages to ensure we’re following CDC guidelines and taking all precautions necessary to keep our friends and families safe. We encourage you to attend a program virtually! It’s is a great way to see some of your friends that you’ve been missing so much!

Local Live Virtual Programs

Music Therapy (0-6 years) 

Come move, sing, and play instruments with us as we address communication, following directions, and so much more! This program will be held virtually until safe to do otherwise. Register for this 8-week music therapy session for ages 0-6 years that will be held once a week. There will be instrument packages provided for participants. Registrations are required as space is limited. These music therapy sessions are provided by West Music and a board-certified music therapist!

You are registering to attend all dates as follows:
June 17, June 24, July 1, July 8, July 15, July 22, July 29, August 5

The deadline for registration is June 1st.

LMNOP (Language, Music N’ Our Peeps (0-3 years) 

LMNOP is an interactive and engaging program designed to guide parents and young children through learning basic sign language and other forms of communication using music and language-based activities. We recommend this program for ages birth-3 years.

2 & Under (0-2 years)

2 and Under is the perfect place for children to meet new friends, learn and grow; while parents have the opportunity to socialize and network with one another!

Teen Tastic (13-17) & Fantastic Friends (18+)

Teen Tastic promotes friendship, social interactions, communication through a variety of social activities, outing, and games for teens. Participants in Teen Tastic gain confidence, leadership skills, and empowerment while working as part of a team or on individual projects and tasks.

Fantastic Friends program supports the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual fun setting. Adult participants participate in the planning of activities so that group activities are based on personal interests.

Playhouse Pals (5-8 years) and Kids Club (9-12 years)

Playhouse Pals and Kid’s Club are teaming up to this month. Playhouse Pals is an interactive and engaging program. We support the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting. Kids Club supports the development of social skills and language through peer to peer interaction in a casual and fun setting.

GiGiFIT Kid & Adult

GiGiFIT Adult (18 and up) and GiGiFIT Kid (5-12 years) will be led by Physical Therapist Paige Taghon – Kelly for this fitness program designed just for individuals with Down syndrome! The summer session will meet on Thursdays Kids will meet at 5:30 pm and Adults will meet at 6:30 pm. This session run June 11th through August 27th. This session will be held virtually until we can safely meet in person. Applications are closed.

Parent University Webinar (Parents/Guardians)

Working Through the Maze of Government Benefits – The maze of government benefits can be overwhelming. Let’s take one step at a time so that you can apply for those benefits you are eligible for and become aware of what might change in the future. Families can play a big part in government benefits, and we might not even know it. Learn about the impact our parents, our spouses, and/or our children might have on our available government money.

GiGi’s at Home On Demand is our way of bringing 150+ purposeful programs to you at a time that is convenient for you. You will have access to program recordings, lesson plans and activities to use when you are ready.

GiGi’s at Home Live is our way of bringing 28+ purposeful programs to you each and every week at a specific time. This allows you to interact with our volunteer program leaders and fellow participants engaging in purposeful activities designed for your loved one’s age group.
