GiGi’s Playhouse Quad Cities and our New Special Friends!

Yesterday was a monumental day for GiGi’s Playhouse QC! We were honored to attend the Rock Island County Fair where we were presented with a $1000 (yes, we said $1000) check from a wonderful organization, Rock Island County Beef for Youth!

Beef for Youth is an educational program for kids in Rock Island County. With assistance from a mentor, these kids receive a steer to raise and be shown at the following year’s Rock Island County Fair. This is the ultimate lesson of “Learning by Doing” as the kids must meet with bankers to secure a loan for their steer and make decisions regarding how to feed the steer to gain the appropriate amount of weight to make it prize worthy.

In addition to these lessons, participants in the program learn how to share their sponsorship money to help others in the community. This year, GiGi’s Playhouse QC was fortunate enough to be the recipient of this money. We thank Beef for Youth and look forward to an ongoing relationship with them. We hope to welcome Beef for Youth into the Playhouse soon! Kids helping kids….does it get any better?
