Every day, we work to change perceptions, foster kindness, and build a more accepting world but sometimes, those moments of impact happen in the most unexpected ways.

Several months ago, our Program and Volunteer Coordinator, Emily Folk, witnessed a man take a hard fall from his bicycle just outside our Playhouse. Without hesitation, and despite her very full schedule, she grabbed our first aid kit and rushed outside to help. She stayed with him until he was safely on his way, embodying the compassion and humanity that define our GiGi’s community.

This week, that same man and his wife stopped by the Playhouse. They wanted to personally say thank you and to leave an anonymous donation in recognition of that simple act of kindness.

Their gesture reminded us that kindness creates ripples. What began as a moment of care on a busy day became a reminder that our mission to change the way the world views Down syndrome and to send a message of acceptance for all extends far beyond the programs we offer.

Whether inside our Playhouse or out in the community, every act of compassion strengthens the culture of acceptance we’re working to build together.

At GiGi’s, our mission doesn’t end when the day does; it lives in every connection, every action, and every moment of kindness.

Submitted by: Robin Lea-Amos

At GiGi’s Playhouse Phoenix, we believe our mission doesn’t stop at our doors.
