Living the Wonderful Weis Way
The Weis family is building connection, spreading kindness, and making memories at GiGi’s Playhouse Orange County

A beautiful aspect of GiGi’s Playhouse Orange County is the connection built not only among individuals with Down syndrome, but among their siblings as well. It is powerful to watch siblings come together, share their journeys, and support one another, especially those who are stepping into caregiving roles for their brothers or sisters. GiGi’s becomes a place where they are not alone, where others understand the joys, challenges, and deep love that come with this unique sibling bond.
The Weis family is a shining example of that spirit, and of social media and humanity at their best. A few months ago, one of our Board members, Julie Taylor, came across a social media post from someone seeking resources for a family member with Down syndrome. Julie promptly reached out with a private message: “I have the perfect place for you!” She went on to share all about GiGi’s Playhouse Orange County.
Soon after, Robin, Aaron, and Andrew Weis came in for a tour of the Playhouse. Robin is married to Aaron, and Andrew is Aaron’s adult brother with Down syndrome. Andrew had recently moved in with Robin and Aaron, and they made it a priority to find a welcoming place where Andrew could build friendships and feel a sense of belonging.
Andrew, a vibrant, funny, personable, and kind 28-year-old, made an immediate impression. From the moment he walked through our doors, it was clear he would thrive here. His warm smile and quick wit bring joy to everyone around him. Robin and Aaron are equally wonderful. Their kindness and generosity are felt in everything they do.

From the start, the Weis family embraced the GiGi’s community wholeheartedly. At our Halloween Trunk or Treat event, they arrived dressed as Santa and an elf, bringing laughter and festive energy. Since then, they have become regular participants in GiGiFIT, Fantastic Friends, movie nights, and other special events.
Robin and Aaron also give back by volunteering their time, helping during art and cooking projects, building relationships with other families, and offering encouragement to new participants. Their presence is especially meaningful to other siblings who are navigating similar paths. They show what it means to love fiercely, to advocate, and to walk alongside a family member with grace and joy.
If you haven’t been to GiGi’s Playhouse Orange County yet, we invite you to come check it out. The whole family benefits from making new friends, leaning on each other for support, and having fun together. Whether you are a parent, sibling, grandparent, or friend, there is a place for you here. GiGi’s is more than a program space. It is a place where connections are made, confidence grows, and community thrives.
The Weis family often says they feel fortunate to have found GiGi’s, but the truth is that we are the fortunate ones. Their energy, compassion, and commitment enrich our community every single week.
