What do Barbara Walters, Al Gore, James Cameron, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Bono, Michelle Obama and GiGi’s Playhouse New York all\u00a0\u00a0have in common? \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Each were asked to acknowledge and share the importance of the contributions made by Glamour Magazine’s five audacious Women of the Year 2014. \u00a0The list \u00a0of exceptional honorees\u00a0includes Chelsea Clinton, Sharah Burton, Laverne Cox, Sylvia Earle, Mindy Kaling, Lupita Nyong’o, Samantha Power, Robin Roberts and \u00a0our very own Natalia Vodianova – for her special needs advocacy in Russia.<\/p>\n

Natalia grew up loving a sister with cerebral palsy and autism. \u00a0Her mother defied convention by keeping Oksana in their home and family instead of putting her \u00a0in an institution. \u00a0The minute Natalia’s beauty won her international fame as one of the\u00a0worlds top super models, Natalia founded\u00a0The Naked Heart Foundation\u00a0in \u00a0order to\u00a0create accessible playgrounds, special needs summer camps and help Russian families get resources they need.<\/p>\n

It’s no wonder that when Glamour Magazine looked for a personal\u00a0story about what support means to a community touched by disability, they \u00a0reached out to GiGi’s Playhouse New York.<\/p>\n

Executive Director Britt Sady spoke about the importance and the impact of Natalia’s work from the perspective of the mother of a child with Down syndrome; benefiting\u00a0first-hand from the\u00a0robust, activist community New York families experience at the Playhouse.<\/p>\n

After the event, Ms. Sady was able to speak with Hillary Rodham Clinton about the tens of thousands of families the Playhouse serves across the country \u00a0and\u00a0the world and our shared determination for\u00a0education, inclusion, and contribution.\u00a0It was a star-studded powerhouse evening of powerful women making \u00a0powerful \u00a0change for the next generation.<\/p>\n
