Meet Hunter, GiGi’s NYC volunteer! Hunter began volunteering with us earlier this year and quickly became a cherished member of our community. She started by volunteering with our Leaps and Bounds Program, then joined us for Community Chorus. Hunter is warm, welcoming, kind and loving – and we are so thankful to have her!<\/p>\n

How and when did you first get involved with GiGi\u2019s NYC?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

I first got involved at GiGi’s in April 2022 after moving to New York and looking into volunteer opportunities with the Down syndrome community.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Why did you decide to volunteer with GiGi\u2019s NYC?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

In my previous volunteer and work experience, I have worked with the Down syndrome community and it really changed my life. I found a wonderful group of people and want to always be an advocate and a part of this community.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What do you do as a volunteer?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

I have been a Program Assistant for Leaps and Bounds and Community Chorus!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is your favorite thing about the GiGi\u2019s NYC community?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The acceptance, the smiles, the kindness. Everyone (participants, families, staff, volunteers) I have met has been incredibly warm and welcoming.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What is the best part about volunteering with GiGi\u2019s NYC?<\/span><\/b><\/p>\n

The community! Volunteering is the best part of my week, I am always excited to go and leave with a huge smile on my face.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
