GiGi’s Playhouse NYC Celebrates it’s 5th Year Gala!

Last Thursday GiGi’s Playhouse NYC celebrated it’s 5 year anniversary in style while raising necessary funds for our continued growth.  After months of planning, we were thrilled to have an all-star lineup for our annual ‘i Have a Voice’ Gala.  As always, our Emcee was going to be Chris Wragge of CBS New York.  Chris would be joined by renowned geneticist and Down syndrome expert, Dr. Brian Skotko, and GiGi’s Playhouse founder and Chief Belief Officer, Nancy Gianni.  What could be better!

It drizzled all day in NYC, but nothing too serious.  Around 3:30 we get a message from Chris Wragge: ”delayed in Logan Airport due to rain, working hard to try to get there!” followed shortly by an eerily similar message from our keynote speaker, Dr. Skotko.  As fate would have it, both men were scheduled for the same flight out of Boston.  A flight that was delayed and delayed and kept both of our guests from attending our event.

But this is GiGi’s Playhouse! Two of the core values of GiGi’s Playhouse are 1) Get it Done and 2) Best of All.  The weather had different plans for us on Gala night, but the show must go on!  We had everything we needed…Technology, Frank Sawyer, and Nancy Gianni!

While they weren’t able to make it to the event, Chris and Brian met up at the Airport and made this video for us!

We were lucky to have Frank Sawyer, GiGi’s Playhouse NYC Board President fill in as Emcee, with Brian Skotko joining us via Skype and Nancy Gianni bringing it all home!  While this wasn’t what we planned, it showed what makes the GiGi’s Playhouse community so amazing.

Our Gala is our biggest fundraiser of the year, and we are so thankful to all of those who contribute their time, energy, and money to support the work that we’re doing.  As we look towards the next 5 years, we are full of hopes and dreams and know that whatever comes our way, we will be able to take it on with a smile and a little help from technology.  This years Gala was truly our ‘Best of All’ and we definitely got it done.

From all of us at GiGi’s Playhouse NYC, thank you for being a part of our story!
