Thanksgiving Traditions & Blessings as written by Fatima Mirza

GiGi’s NYC is EXCITED to post the next blog in Fatima’s monthly series, Words of Wisdom. In part two, she shares her family traditions and what she is grateful for. We hope you enjoy Fatima’s Thanksgiving-themed blog as we usher in the holiday season!

On Thanksgiving, I have a lot to be thankful for, which is the food we eat as a family at the dinner table and then what we say what we are thankful for as a family by talking. The first thing that I am thankful for are my grandparents, Pop Pop and Maureen, because they care a lot about me, and they take me out a lot for special times to have some fun outdoors and play games in the nice weather. The second thing that I am grateful for are my parents, Denise and Leo, because they care about me, and they support me in who I am in the world. They make me delicious food every day. They are the best and my superheroes. The third thing that I am thankful for is that I have a brother and his name is Harris. He is my superhero in the world when he’s not working a lot. I like to go out and eat sushi with him. The fourth thing I’m grateful for is GiGi’s Playhouse NYC because they give me opportunities to make a lot of new friends and go out on fun trips like the Central Park Zoo and the Paint Lounge. I am also thankful for this opportunity to write this monthly Blog. A shoutout to Rosella and Noelle for all your support.  The fifth and last thing that I’m grateful for is that I’m healthy and taking care of myself. I’ve been doing a lot healthier things and not bad habits. I dance, walk and try to follow exercise videos a few times a week.

What are your Thanksgiving traditions and favorite foods? I love when my family goes around the table, and everyone says what they’re grateful for. My family and I have a lot to be grateful for and we are very blessed. I love the turkey, stuffing and gravy that my Pop Pop makes. I love the desserts my family makes on Thanksgiving, especially the strawberry cheesecake and pumpkin pie. I wish everyone a happy, blessed and safe Thanksgiving. Enjoy your time and start getting ready for the next holidays. Next month I will talk about the upcoming holidays and traditions that occur in the month of December. Lots of Love and Happiness!!

Love,

Fatima

Fatima’s words remind us to reflect on all we are grateful for, all the love we are surrounded by, and how lucky we truly are to be connected by the GiGi’s NYC community. GiGi’s NYC wishes everyone a Happy and Healthy Thanksgiving. Please share what you are grateful for this holiday season and what your favorite Thanksgiving traditions are.
